Nanogaine is a hair treatment that has been shown

The life
cycle of a hair

The Nitric Oxide (NO) pathway
exists within every hair cell. Increased presence of intracellular
Nitric Oxide has been shown to increase the size and section of
the hair follicle (left)
Conversely, Peroxynitrite has been shown to be detrimental to

Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) therefore has a double hair growth
stimulation effect - more NO and less Peroxynitrite.

Peroxynitrite is formed when a reaction occurs between

Clinical Research behind Nanogaine
Topical
application test
The hair of the lumbar region (small 5cm patch) of six C3H mice
was cut and 0.1ml of SOD extract was applied twice a day, until
hair growth was observed. The area of hair growth was monitored
with an image analyzing apparatus
on days 14, 21 and 28 following the start of the test.
At 1% concentration of SOD, hair growth response was observed
in all cases after 14 days and hair growth rate was observed in
all areas of treatment. At 0.5% concentration, hair growth response
was observed in all cases
and hair growth rate was 90%. In comparison, Minoxidil (2% Rogaine,
Upjohn) showed hair growth response
for 5 out of the 6 animals in 28 days and hair growth rate was
at 57%
In Vitro test
It has been shown that Minoxidil increases the DNA synthesis
of skin hair follicle and the synthesis of keratin in the hair
follicle (Buhl AE et al., J Invest Dermatol 1991 May; 96(5):73S-74S)
so it was decided to use the same test for Superoxide Dismutase
for a fair comparison. Addition of only 5-10 µm of SOD extract
provoked hair follicle protein synthesis which was 100-200% higher
than that of Minoxidil (2%)
We are aware that Minoxidil is usually used at 5% concentration
or higher. Nanogaine is formulated with 2% SOD in addition to its other actives such as Lo-Seb™ and Capilecti™. Nanogaine
can be used concurrently with Minoxidil therapy.

will provide multiple references to the other respected sources
who have tested SOD for applications in hair loss therapy. Indeed
there have been expensive patent fights over this particular ingredient.

When should I expect to see results?
The time taken to see result varies between
individuals and for some, little results are achieved.
It would be the same for users of Minoxidil. Some people respond
excellently and others do not respond at all. However in all
cases, users would be advised to allow at least 3 months of
application in order to assess results.
Do I need to use Nanogaine forever?
Yes. Even
clinically proven hair loss treatments without exception
must be used indefinitely. For most people this is not as
daunting as it first sounds, especially with Nanogaine for
several reasons.
First off, Nanogaine is water-based, so unlike Minoxidil, it
does not dry the hair and scalp even with long-term use. Secondly,
not being a tablet whose effects are systemic, it does not have
side effects.
Besides, a lot of people just want to encourage hair growth
for a further 10 years or just slow down the
loss, so you don't have to use it forever, just if you want
to maintain result you will do.

Are there any side effects from
using Nanogaine?
This is the greatest feature of Nanogaine.
Unlike Minoxidil, which must be dissolved in ethanol (alcohol),
the Nanogaine actives are water-soluble. This was our breakthrough.
This means that you can get all the benefit from 'topical NO
supplementation' without drying the hair. It is a very important
factor when one remembers that Minoxidil must be used for the
rest of your life, or hair re-grown/stopped from falling out,
will then fall out. Nanogaine is a long-term choice for people

Can you use Nanogaine alongside Minoxidil?
Yes you can. Naturally,
there will be some drying because of the alcohol in the
minoxidil solution. Some people use Nanogaine day and night
and use Minoxidil once a day also. You may like to use an
oily hair gel or cream such a "brylcream" to avoid
the worst 'straw-hair' from long-term Minoxidil use.
What if I use the night ampoule in
the day (or vice-versa) what are the effects?
No adverse affects at all. It is just that
at night, your scalp will produce more sebum and the night formula
is designed to slow sebum production and hence the optimum conditions
will be obtained by using the ampoules in the correct order.
What is shedding?
When hair growth is stimulated, a large amount
of follicles move into the Anagen phase from the Telogen phase
simultaneously, which has the obvious consequence of hair loss
during the initial phase of treatment (shedding). Do not be
concerned. Although it may sound counter-intuitive, more than
usual hair loss is usually an indication the formula is working
according to the published studies. The new hair that replaces
